PVC Locator Pro™ Thumper
Mechanical Pulse Device for Mid-Range Pressure PVC Line Locating
The PVC Locator Pro™ Thumper-80 is a mechanical pulse generator engineered to locate non-metallic PVC water lines operating at moderate pressure levels (up to approximately 80 PSI). It delivers a stronger, more robust vibration signal than lower-output devices, making it well-suited for deeper, longer, or more complex PVC systems.
By transmitting controlled mechanical energy through the water column and pipe wall, the Thumper-80 creates a traceable signal that can be followed from the surface using acoustic listening equipment or ground microphones—where electronic locating methods often fail.
Designed for Mid-Pressure Systems
The Thumper-80 is ideal for:
Residential and light commercial water services
Multi-branch or longer PVC runs
Systems with moderate operating pressure
Situations requiring improved signal strength over low-pressure pulse devices
Key Features
Enhanced Mechanical Pulse Output – Stronger vibration signal for improved detectability
Pressure-Balanced Design – Optimized for systems up to ~80 PSI
Non-Electronic Operation – No batteries, transmitters, or electronic interference
Durable, Field-Ready Construction – Built for repeated professional use
Compatible with Acoustic Locating Tools – Designed to work with ground microphones and listening devices
How It Works
The Thumper-80 introduces a rhythmic mechanical pulse into the pressurized PVC line. The vibration travels along the pipe and through the surrounding soil, allowing technicians to trace the pipe’s path, changes in direction, and approximate depth by following the signal from the surface.
Important Use Notice
PVC pipe locating involves transmitting vibration through the pipe. Pre-existing weaknesses, brittle pipe, or compromised fittings may be revealed or worsened during use. The Thumper-80 should only be operated by trained professionals who understand system pressure, condition, and proper diagnostic technique.
CPL Technologies is not responsible for existing defects or failures that may become evident during the locating process.
